Emotional Support for You and Your Family
Facing a blood cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming. Whether you are a patient or a family member, you don’t have to carry the weight of it alone. Our new counselling service is here to support you.
Whatever you are feeling right now is completely normal. Common feelings include anger, fear, guilt, and uncertainty, or even anxiety about navigating the different stages of blood cancer. Our counselling service is a safe space to share without judgement. We offer a breathing space for patients and their families, away from the clinical hustle. The sessions take place in our private Linc Wellbeing space at Patch in central Gloucester.


Counselling Service Overview
- Cost: Our counselling service is completely free of charge thanks to our wonderful donors.
- Location: Normally in-person at Patch or online via Zoom if needed.
- Duration: 50 minute sessions over a 6 or 12 week period or flexible as needed.
- Confidentiality: This is a private space separate from your medical team.
- Eligibility: We support patients and families being treated in Gloucestershire
- Patients: Newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, or post-treatment.
- Loved Ones: Partners, adult children, parents, or primary caregivers.
Finding the Right Support: Counselling vs. Clinical Psychology
If you are currently undergoing intensive or active inpatient hospital treatment, or if you are experiencing severe distress that makes it difficult to engage with your medical care, you may need the specialist Clinical Psychology service instead of counselling.

Patch in Gloucester
Our face-to-face sessions take place at Patch in Gloucester.
It is located right in the heart of Gloucester, making it perfectly placed for anyone travelling by bus or train, or walking over from the hospital. It is a warm, welcoming space designed to give you a comfortable environment away from a clinical setting.

- Comfortable: Free hot drinks and a quiet space to sit
- Flexible: Parking nearby and easily reachable via local public transport links

A short phone chat. A friendly member of our team will call you within 3 days to understand what you need.
Step 3:
Attend your first session. You will have your first appointment either at Patch or via Zoom with a qualified Linc counsellor who understands the impact of blood cancer.
All Linc counsellors are fully qualified and registered with a professional body.
